I’ve Driven People and Talent Strategy for Companies at all Stages of Growth. Here’s Why I Joined Netskope.

Jun 17 2022

When a company puts its culture, talent, and people up front, that matters. You want to work with a CEO and a management team who understand that cultural factors are what is going to make the difference when it comes to executing our business, whether driving innovation or serving our customers.

When I first met Sanjay and the management team here at Netskope, it was culture that jumped out to me first. In my interview process, I never even had to ask about it, because almost everyone I spoke with naturally jumped to culture as a point to highlight what they’ve found valuable about working here at Netskope. It’s rare that you find a culture, particularly in a technology company, that everyone in leadership is completely bought into preserving, and also completely focused on maintaining as we continue to grow.

Netskope is very quickly approaching an inflection point where more than two-thirds of current employees, myself included, have come aboard amid the pandemic. There are almost certainly people working for the company today that have never met another Netskoper in person. Netskope is seeing. A study commissioned by Microsoft revealed that, especially in the first year of the pandemic, productivity among remote-first teams went way up, but innovation stalled. Why? Being distributed has forced us all to adapt, but what doesn’t change in any circumstance is the need to make team members feel like they are making an impact and have an opportunity to grow professionally alongside the ongoing success. I think about this often: we need to be very intentional about how we’re keeping people connected and taking care of the organization, so we can keep that strong connection to our corporate values and culture intact, and keep our innovation front and center. Sanjay said it well in his December 2021 column for Entrepreneur: “Today’s environment demands that leaders go beyond their typical role in setting an organization’s overarching culture, and support employees with unprecedented levels of mindfulness and intention.”

I am also excited by the challenge of how we continue to scale. We need to have operational excellence in our talent strategy as we look toward the future and prepare for the kinds of roles we will need to fill. We need to be open to the opportunities that come from a strong global pool of talent that extends far beyond just Silicon Valley or traditional hubs of talent. This is the kind of strategizing I did in my previous role as Chief People Officer at Anaplan, helping to drive an aligned talent strategy through multiple rounds of growth, and I think the right strategies for talent will be a force multiplier (literally!) for Netskope as we continue to grow.

I am so excited by all of the potential we have here at Netskope, and further building on this already very strong team and established culture. From my perspective, all of the right ingredients are here to make Netskope an iconic company, and I look forward to playing my part in helping make that a reality.

If you think you’d be a good fit here at Netskope as we continue to grow, take a look at our Careers page for all of our current job openings!
